We have an rss feed up and somewhat functional. It looks like its working but I am not sure we are using it right. www.bradymartz.com and the rss feed link is on the bottom right side. What does tweak provide for RSS capabilities, maybe we arn't using it right? http://bradymartz.com/rss.php is the main file that you can "subscribe" to. It seems like its valid according to this checker...
http://validator.w3.org/feed/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fbradymartz....

I am asking if we are using tweaks RSS abilities to their fullest, of if there is something we should be doing differently.

You are doing everything right as far as I can tell. The CMS automatically places the markup needed to make search engines and users aware that your site is using RSS, and you have placed a link to the feed on the home page. Everything is working as it should. RSS is a tool to help you promote your site, and is just once piece of the puzzle.

If you haven't already, I suggest reading our tips for making your site more effective. You might also check out some of the articles on this Google search results page for some more info about RSS and how you can put it to work on your web site.

Let me know if you have further questions.

On closer inspection, I've noticed that you are not using the CMS to manage your RSS feed. The rss.php file is a custom script that is creating your news RSS. Everything I've mentioned above about RSS still applies, except the note about the CMS automatically placing the markup needed to make search engines and users aware that your site is using RSS. If you need to make changes to the RSS functionality you should contact the web developer who worked on your site.

Let me know if you have questions.

Rich, we are the web developers. Can you point us in the right direction on how to use the RSS functions of Tweak itself....that will help immensely.

In an Articles section for example, checking the 'Create an RSS feed for this section' box in the main Article 'Page Properties' view will assure that subscribers to your RSS feed automatically receive new articles when they are published. All child pages in this section are added to the RSS feed. The CMS will place the appropriate <link rel="alternate"... /> tags in the Article page source.

The CMS indicates that a section is using RSS by displaying an RSS icon in the interactive site map. See attached for a screen shot. You can also control whether a page in a section shows up in the RSS feed by un-checking the 'Include this page in the RSS feed' box in 'Page Properties' for the page you want to exclude. The CMS indicates a page is not included in the RSS feed for a section by graying out the RSS icon. Again, see the attached screen shot for an example.

Did my last response give you the info you need to use RSS feeds in the CMS?

This is somewhat solved. The client wanted a page to display "all" the news items, hence the reason we coded it like we did. They would have to learn the new way to put in the news items..the decision is ultimately at them now.

    Thanks for your help.
