Strange Characters Appear in Updated Copy
On April 30, Colleen posted the following regarding how to fix strange characters in recently updated copy..
"This is caused by our recent update which changes all content to utf8. You can fix this easily by opening your html template files and saving them so they also get changed to utf8. This will dirty all of your pages and you will need to republish them. "
I've tried to figure out how to change this, but I'm not sure what to change in the template files.

Just read the article posted yesterday. We use Firefox 3.0. If we need to switch, that would be fine.
Thank you!!

I'm happy to help you out with this issue! To be sure I understand, are you experiencing the issue where strange characters appear as you edit pages of your site?

Yes. The pages appear fine as I'm editing, but when I publish, the characters are there. When I go in and delete them and republish, they come back.

OK, that clarifies the issue. I'm going to switch you to our newer Javascript editor. The Java editor is no longer supported. More information on why is available here:

I'll also convert your templates over to use UTF-8. Hold tight and we'll get this done right away for you.

The editor has been upgraded which should prevent those characters from being inserted into your content now. Let us know if you need any help removing the characters from the pages where they were appearing.
